Earle S. Alexander, Jr. Passes

Earle S. Alexander, Jr. - the namesake behind the “A” in PGAL (Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville) - passed away on February 11, 2017, his 86th birthday.

Alexander, a prominent and well-respected Houston architect, designed numerous high profile projects across the country. His most notable projects include the Marathon Oil Building, Terminals A, B, and C at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Two Houston Center, and various projects at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Alexander was a Fellow and active member of the AIA serving as Chairman and President of various committees and an adjunct professor at Rice University.

In a retrospecive interview in 2005, Alexander noted, “Since retiring, it pleases me to read the paper and see the firm has been selected to a project or has a picture of one of our projects. I hope that everyone currently with the firm feels the same sense of pride, and will be willing to provide the work, intensity, and commitment to quality that all the people who proceeded them had and that certainly is going to be the foundation for the firm's continued success.”
