City of Conroe Police Training Classroom Building

The new training facility is a four-story structure enclosing 20,800 square feet of programmed space including classrooms, offices, and armories for local and federal law enforcement.

The new building will replace the original building that was destroyed by flooding and will double the original building’s interior space. The facility includes exterior storage and training space on the ground level as well as sniper training on the roof.

PGAL also performed civil engineering services to design improvements to the existing levee system around the Police Training Facility which got overtopped by Hurricane Harvey floodwaters and destroyed several buildings. PGAL developed alternative solutions for raising the levee elevation to a minimum of 1 foot above the 500-year flood level. The recommended solution included a system of concrete walls supported by drilled shaft foundations and reconstructing the access road to raise the crossing point to the same level. In addition to the wall system, the project included a new storm water pump station with provisions for emergency power, grading of raised building pad for a new maintenance building, a new storm sewer system to more efficiently collect rain water from the whole site and to provide connections to the new training facility building designed by the architectural team.
