TxDOT Opens Grand Parkway Segment G
The Texas Department of Transportation unveiled the Houston area’s newest roadway – Grand Parkway Segment G – at a March 29 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new 14-mile-long section of tollway connects IH45 to US 59 in New Caney. The section will greatly reduce east-west commute times between population centers such as The Woodlands and Kingwood. Segment G is the final leg of the $1 Billion, 38-mile tollway between US 290 and US 59.
As part of the ZOPB design build team, PGAL was the prime engineering design consultant for Section Gb, which is the western portion of Segment G including the US 59 interchange and tollway near the new Valley Ranch Town Center. This $130 million section includes five miles of new four-lane toll road, 10 entrance/exit ramps, three miles of two-lane frontage road, two direct connector bridges, intersecting streets and overpasses, two 1,000-foot frontage road bridges over White Oak Creek and the widening of the existing US 59 main lanes.
PGAL leveraged our extensive TxDOT and toll road experience to ensure that the project design remained on schedule, coordinating closely with TxDOT, Montgomery County, Municipal Utility Districts, private developers, and utility companies.
Congratulations to our client, the Texas Department of Transportation, on the completion of this monumental infrastructure project.
