PGAL Takes Home Two International Parking Institute Awards
Last week at the International Parking Institute’s (IPI) Annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee, the PGAL team celebrated the recognition of two projects at the organization’s annual awards dinner.
Every year since 1982, the IPI Awards of Excellence competition recognizes world-class examples of parking design and program innovation. “The honorees in our 34th annual competition are thoughtfully designed for the way we live today, with sustainability and potential development at the forefront,” says IPI CEO Shawn Conrad, CAE. “The facilities not only help deliver city, university, and airport parkers to their final destinations quickly and efficiently, but also visually captivate and invite lingering to enjoy their beautiful art and landscaping. They represent a remarkable transformation in the industry.”
PGAL’s Florida International University Parking Garage 6 Tech Station in Miami, Florida, was one of seven Award of Excellence winners in the category of “Best Design of a Parking Facility with 800 or More Spaces”. The 2,100-space, $38.2 million, mixed-use seven-level complex includes retail/auxiliary space as well as classrooms, training labs, and meeting/conference rooms.
The firm’s Broward County Judicial Complex South Parking Garage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was also recognized with an Award of Merit. The 410,000-square-foot, six-level, 1000-space parking garage carefully embraces and incorporates the county-owned historical Coca-Cola building, utilizing it as the complex’s iconic centerpiece.
