City of New Braunfels Police Headquarters

The City of New Braunfels engaged PGAL for master planning, programming, and design services for its new two-building police headquarters campus.

The primary structure, a 62,285-square-foot facility, features a prominent two-story lobby that visually and spatially connects the first and second floors. The first floor is organized in a T-shaped layout, accommodating a large community media room, training rooms, lockers, and various police department functions. At the rear, the one-story section includes a high-volume area designated for evidence and property storage, as well as a specialized forensics vehicle bay.

On the second floor, a mezzanine overlooks the lobby and houses essential functions such as an administration suite, dispatch center, detective workspaces, recruitment, and additional training areas.

The T-shaped floor plan has been designed with future expansion in mind, allowing for an H-shaped configuration to accommodate the city’s anticipated growth.

The second building, a 13,905-square-foot annex, is a pre-engineered metal structure located on the northwestern portion of the site. This annex is dedicated to vehicular functions, including a fitness center and storage spaces.

Overall, the master plan and design strategy emphasize both functionality and flexibility, ensuring that the police headquarters will serve the needs of New Braunfels effectively while accommodating future expansion.

Features include:

  1. Two-building police headquarters campus
  2. T-shaped plan to allow for future expansion
  3. Welcoming and transparent two-story main building lobby
