CobbWorks
PGAL, in collaboration with MAPP Construction as part of a Design-Build team, was selected for the adaptive reuse of the historic Mableton/Cobb County Fire Station #1, transforming it into a dynamic workforce development center.
This innovative project aims to repurpose the former fire station into a vibrant hub that will serve the workforce development needs of Cobb County while also providing valuable support and leasable space for burgeoning businesses.
The facility will be reimagined to facilitate the County’s workforce development initiatives, offering a flexible environment that accommodates various training programs and business incubation efforts. By leveraging the existing structure, the project not only preserves the historical significance of the fire station but also redefines its role in the community, enhancing its utility for CobbWorks and fostering local entrepreneurial endeavors.
The County provided a comprehensive set of bridging documents, which PGAL is using as a foundational reference to refine the design and confirm programming requirements. This strategic approach ensures that the final design optimally supports the functions of CobbWorks while integrating additional spaces for small business incubation and community activities.
The project will ensure that the transformed fire station not only retains its architectural heritage but also evolves into an asset for the county, enriching the community and supporting its growth.
