Fort Bend County Emergency Operations Center Needs Assessment
Fort Bend County engaged PGAL to perform an initial needs assessment for a new Emergency Operations Center to serve the needs of the county.
The existing EOC was in a former county jail building originally built in the 1950s and had been utilized by other departments before being converted to the EOC in the early 2000s. Because the current building condition was poor, and its space and technology needs were not being met, the county decided that a new building should be constructed.
As part of the needs assessment, the team investigated several potential sites for a new building of approximately 22,000 square feet both on currently owned county property and other available properties around the county. The sites were evaluated based on typical needs such as location relative to the flood plain, ease of vehicular access, and access to reliable utilities. After evaluation, it was decided that building a new building on the current site was the most effective solution.
