George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) JFK Bus Flyover
The Houston Airport System turned to PGAL to prepare preliminary engineering and final design for a 1,400-linear-foot bridge that connects IAH’s new consolidated rental car facility to JFK Boulevard.
The design includes trapezoidal steel girders for the long, curved spans and prestressed, precast concrete U-beams for the strait spans. Recessed lighting in the concrete railing allows for a safe and aesthetically pleasing passageway.
To accommodate two-way bus traffic, PGAL used a split roadway approach to JFK Boulevard’s main lanes.
Features Include:
- 1,400-linear-foot bridge connecting the airport’s new ConRAC to JFK Boulevard
- Split roadway to accommodate two-way bus traffic
- Trapezoidal girders, precast U-beams, and recessed lighting in the concrete railing
