Texas A&M University at Galveston Seibel Student Services Center and Mary Moody Northen Student Center Renovation
Texas A&M University at Galveston serves as the “ocean-oriented campus” of the Texas A&M University System, offering a unique blend of marine and maritime programs including majors in science, business, engineering, and transportation.
PGAL provided planning, design, and construction administration services to deliver necessary expansion for the growing student population.
The two-phase project includes a new 10,000-square-foot Student Services building, as well as renovation and expansion of the existing Mary Moody Northen Student Center. The new Student Services building provides office, meeting, and support space for Student Affairs staff, including areas for student life, student counseling, and career placement services.
The building’s bright maroon marquee and steps anchor the front entry, drawing students into and through the building on their way to the adjacent Northen Student Center activity and dining facilities. The end result is a new hub of activity that reflects the school’s desire to maintain intimate connections, even as the campus grows.
With student service functions in a new home, PGAL refashioned the existing Northen Student Center building lobby into an event and reception space. An oversized sliding partition between the lobby and new 100-seat meeting and private dining room provides a larger space for special functions.
Features Include:
