University of Texas Medical Branch Austin Research Campus Master Plan
PGAL served as principal master planner for this 2.3 million-square-foot research and academic campus, which was part of the 700-acre Robert Mueller Municipal Airport redevelopment program.
PGAL created a three-phase plan for the 25-acre site, which would total approximately $438 million at final build-out.
Working closely with facilities, academic, and research staff, PGAL established short- and long-term programmatic needs, funding mechanisms, overall architectural design guidelines, and size, zoning and permitting issues.
Phase 1 included three academic buildings, library, student center, mixed-use retail, two parking garages, and two clinical and research buildings.
Phase 2 included allied health, administration, one academic building, mixed-use retail, two clinical and research buildings, and two parking garages.
Phase 3 included additional research buildings, academic classrooms, and a parking garage.
