19th Street Cargo Facility at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
PGAL led the redesign of Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport’s19th Street Cargo facility. While the project is currently on hold, the goal of design was to enhance DFW’s role as a premier global hub for air cargo logistics, expanding capacity to support high-growth sectors such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, and cross-border e-commerce.
The completed design includes two state-of-the-art air cargo warehouses totaling 350,000 square feet, alongside seven large cargo aircraft parking positions. Developed to optimize efficiency, improve operational flow, and accommodate increased demand, this project strengthens DFW’s connectivity to key global markets across the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
A forward-thinking approach integrates cutting-edge technology to streamline cargo operations, mitigate airport congestion, and address sustainability challenges. Automated systems, robotics, and advanced security measures enhance safety, efficiency, and reliability. Building 1 is designed to encompass 196,000 square feet with a 34,000-square-foot mezzanine, while Building 2 spans 118,000 square feet with a 25,000-square-foot mezzanine. Additional planned improvements include new cargo airplane parking positions, pavement replacement for landside and airside operations, taxiway and apron enhancements, and an underground fuel storage facility.
Sustainability is a central focus, with energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly construction practices reducing environmental impact. The selection of industry-leading operators, including Menzies, Dnata, and Longo, underscores DFW’s commitment to operational excellence and superior service standards.
