Consolidated Rental Car Center (ConRAC) at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
Located on 67 acres near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, this is the largest and most customer friendly consolidated rental car facility in operation today.
PGAL led a joint venture managing the programming, planning, and design of this new ConRAC. The facility is accessible by a 1.5-mile aboveground people mover (APM) and an access road that crosses a major interstate, local highway, and railroad.
The program includes two four-level garage structures totaling 2.8 million square feet for 8,700 ready/return/storage spaces. A 128,000-square-foot, four-level customer terminal accommodates 12 rental car agencies. Seven separate maintenance and storage areas, commonly known as quick turnaround areas (QTAs), provide 140 fuel dispensers, 32 car wash bays, 16 light maintenance bays, and storage for 4,000 vehicles for individual RAC use.
The APM is the third stop on a system connecting the rental car center with the central terminal area and the new Georgia International Convention Center. The connection clearly reflects the public-private partnership between two neighboring cities and the developers.
Additional elements include an extensive signage and graphics package and on-site roadways to support the facility’s vehicular infrastructure. PGAL was also responsible for design and oversight of rental car agencies build-out for exclusive-use areas.
