Fort Bend County Emergency Operations Center
The design of the County’s new Emergency Operations Center was awarded after PGAL conducted an in-depth needs assessment.
The new facility houses the county’s Office of Emergency Management and serves as a centralized hub for critical operations and emergency support. Key features include administrative offices for staff, a multi-function training room, a media room, and a fully equipped kitchen with a pantry. These spaces are designed to meet daily operational needs while offering ample storage capacity to support extended emergency activations.
The Operations Room, a focal point of the facility, has direct access to the Joint Information Center (JIC), a command room, and two breakout rooms. It is configured to accommodate 74 permanent seating positions, ensuring sufficient capacity for critical staff from the county and external agencies.
To support efficient decision-making and information dissemination, the facility was designed with a state-of-the-art audiovisual and communication system. This system enables users to access, monitor, and present multiple information feeds seamlessly, fostering a coordinated response to emergency situations.
The building is engineered to meet rigorous safety standards, including the ability to withstand wind pressures associated with 150 mph winds. Additionally, it features 100% emergency power backup to ensure uninterrupted functionality during critical operations.
Features include:
