City of Friendswood Fire Station No. 2

In November 2019, voters approved a bond proposition allocating approximately $4.1 million to replace the aging Fire Station No. 2. The existing station was demolished to make way for a new, state-of-the-art, 7,700-square-foot facility and upgraded training field.

The new Fire Station No. 2 features three back-in apparatus bays with folding front doors for improved efficiency and durability. The facility provides a comfortable and functional environment for firefighters, incorporating a lobby, office space, dayroom, kitchen, dormitories, shower/restrooms, and an outdoor patio. Additional amenities include apparatus support spaces and a mezzanine designed to function as a fitness area. The site also offers separate public and secure parking areas, enhanced by a perimeter fence for added security and controlled access.

The upgraded training field has been designed to meet modern firefighter training needs. It includes a roof prop training structure, storage buildings, newly paved areas for apparatus simulations, a 20x40 gravel pad, a propane tank for controlled fire training scenarios, and upgraded field lighting. These improvements ensure that the department is well-equipped for advanced training and operational readiness.

Features include:

  1. Three back-in bays equipped with folding front doors for improved efficiency and safety.
  2. Enhanced living and workspaces including lobby, office space, dayroom, kitchen, dormitories, shower/restrooms, an outdoor patio, and a mezzanine fitness area.
  3. Roof prop training structure, paved areas for apparatus simulations, a gravel pad, propane tank, storage buildings, and improved lighting for advanced firefighter training.
