PGAL Hosts Mini Golf Tournament to Benefit Arlington Food Assistance Center

The PGAL Alexandria office is being transformed into a nine-hole miniature golf course to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center. On November 5, the architecture and engineering firm is hosting the Canstruction® Classic Mini Golf Tournament, with proceeds helping to fund PGAL’s participation in the upcoming Canstruction® charity competition, sponsored by AIA Northern Virginia.

Golfers in the inaugural “tournament” will complete the nine-hole course, which features local Alexandria and DC landmarks and is designed and constructed by PGAL employees.

“We are excited to partner with so many wonderful sponsors, colleagues and friends to help address hunger in our community,” says Molly Statler, director of business development at PGAL.

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the PGAL offices, 201 North Union Street, Suite 500. Event sponsors include Air Alliance, AECOM, The Burns Group, Clark Construction, HBF Textiles, Mokawk Group, Pond, Rand Construction, 3Form, Woods Peacock and Workrite Ergonomics.

PGAL is preparing to compete in AIA Northern Virginia’s 12th Annual Canstruction® Competition, which features structures that are designed and built entirely from canned food. The structures will be on display at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, November 13 to 22.

After the event, the cans will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center, which provides supplemental groceries to Arlington neighbors in need.

Hosted annually in more than 150 cities around the world, Canstruction® events have donated nearly 30 million pounds of food since 1992.

PGAL is accepting tax-deductible donations to support its Canstruction® team through November 13 at https://afac.org/donate/can15pgal.
