Aircraft Rescue + Firefighting (ARFF) Station 21 Replacement at Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL)

Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) is modernizing its safety and emergency response infrastructure with the replacement of Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Station 21. Originally built in the 1960s, the existing facility has exceeded its intended lifespan, necessitating a state-of-the-art replacement that aligns with current operational needs and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Strategically integrated with DAL’s ongoing Crossfield Taxiway reconfiguration, the new ARFF Station 21 is designed to optimize emergency response times while meeting FAA-mandated standards. Centrally positioned between the airport’s primary runways, 13L and 13R, the facility will ensure rapid deployment of emergency personnel and equipment.

The new 33,400-square-foot facility will house both the Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) ARFF Program’s administrative staff and the airport’s airside operations team, fostering seamless coordination during emergency situations. Its design prioritizes efficiency, readiness, and operational resilience, featuring four response bays, two maintenance bays, a battalion administration office, and a dedicated training room equipped with a virtual reality simulator. This cutting-edge simulator will enhance firefighter preparedness through immersive, scenario-based training.

Additional site improvements include a new parking lot, access road, and security enhancements to strengthen operational security and accessibility. The modernized station will significantly enhance DAL’s emergency response capabilities, ensuring the airport remains at the forefront of safety and regulatory compliance.
